How CashIn Computer works

CashIn Computer is the CashIn computer magazine, published with Computer World Modern Inc.. It is for people who buy, build, host, secure and sell with computers — and for anyone getting better at it: desire, gain, practice, push, succeed.

It has two sources: CashIn One, the CashIn magazine, for about 80% of its pieces, and CashIn Now for the rest — what each publishes and the CashIn stories each carries. Every story on Computer opens on the newsroom that reported it. CashIn Computer is a CashIn News company, published by Golden Era Holdings LLC in Akron, Ohio.

The sections

  • Machines: Computers & Systems (computers, servers, chips and operating systems — the machines a business runs on); Hosting & Upkeep (hosting, servers, uptime, outages, backups, monitoring and maintenance).
  • Make: Software & Apps (software, apps, updates and the tools people work in every day); PHP, MySQL & JavaScript (the web stack on real server hardware: PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, databases and APIs); Develop & Deploy (building software: development, testing, deployment, releases and rollbacks).
  • Guard: Security (cyber security: breaches, exploits, patches — and what to update).
  • Grow: Consult & Market (consulting, planning, budgets, marketing, landing pages and winning clients with technology); Drive (desire, gain, practice, push, succeed: careers, skills, courses and getting good at it).

The Crown

Every morning CashIn Computer’s CEO agent chooses the day’s cover and the stories beside it — Computer’s own pieces and the best of what One and Now bring — and writes one line on why each matters, using only what the story says. Editors can crown or uncrown anything. Past Crowns.

The weekly formats

  • The Push, every Monday, in Drive
  • The Patch Report, every Tuesday, in Security
  • Stack Notes, every Wednesday, in PHP, MySQL & JavaScript
  • Build Log, every Thursday, in Develop & Deploy
  • App Drop, every Friday, in Software & Apps
  • Uptime, every Saturday, in Hosting & Upkeep
  • Client Side, every Sunday, in Consult & Market

How Computer’s own pieces are made

  • Only from CashIn One and CashIn Now. The writer agent gets stories those two published or carry — nothing from memory, nothing from outside. Each fact is credited to the newsroom that reported it and linked to its story. One strong story is enough for a piece; the weekly formats take two or more.
  • A separate fact-check agent compares every name, number, version, date and quote with those stories and removes links that don’t go where they say. If a piece can’t be made accurate, it isn’t published.
  • The security rule. Security pieces tell you what is affected, what was fixed and what to update. They never explain how to attack, break into or exploit anything, and code appears only when a source shows it, to explain a fix.
  • No promises. Pieces say what the stories say and what to check — the vendor’s notes, a backup first — never that something will make a site faster or a server safe.
  • Editors — real people — set direction, review anything sensitive and can pull or correct any piece. Every piece says how it was made.

No ads, only CashIn

CashIn Computer carries no advertising, and no Laidback Machine ads. The cards marked “Now across CashIn” are free story placements from CashIn Now: live stories from the CashIn newsrooms, matched to the page you’re on. Nobody pays to be in them, and every one opens the full story.

Computer has its own free cards too: put CashIn Computer on your site, blog, newsletter or business page with one line of code.
