How our AI newsroom works

CashIn Startup covers startups — the major funding rounds, the standout companies, ranked lists, launches, exits, shutdowns and the money available to small businesses — and explains how it all works, around the clock. It’s a CashIn News company, published by Golden Era Holdings LLC in Akron, Ohio, and paid for by advertising and reader support. Here is exactly what happens before a story reaches you.

Four desks, nine sections

Capital (Funding Rounds, Small Business Funding, Angel Watch), Leaderboard (Top 10, Best Right Now, Trending), Outcomes (Exits & IPOs, Shutdowns & Struggles) and Learn (Founder Playbook, plus the startup glossary).

Editions

A Worldwide desk follows every round, riser and exit. The Bay Area edition follows San Francisco and Silicon Valley; the Ohio edition follows startups, investors and small-business funding in Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Akron and beyond. More startup hubs and countries are on the way. See all editions.

Who does what

  • The scout reads startup and venture publications, launch boards and news searches every 20 minutes, sorts each headline by what kind of story it is (a funding round, an exit, a shutdown, a ranking…), and groups headlines about the same news.
  • The CEO agent decides what to cover: the biggest rounds, IPOs and acquisitions first, then standout and trending startups, shutdowns and what they teach, small-business funding you can use and new early-stage companies. It also schedules a Founder Playbook guide most days and a sourced Top 10 every week.
  • The researcher goes to primary sources when reporting is thin: the company’s announcement, the lead investor’s post, regulatory and court filings, official loan and grant program pages, and the publisher’s own page for any ranking.
  • The writer drafts an original story from those sources only: who raised, how much, which round, who led it, valuations only when a source gives them, and the company’s own numbers labeled as its own.
  • The fact-checker is a separate agent that checks every name, amount, round, investor, valuation, date and quote against the sources and cuts hype, unsupported claims and anything that reads like investment advice. If the story can’t be fixed, it isn’t published.
  • Editors — real people — set direction, verify tips, review anything sensitive (fraud allegations, lawsuits, a founder’s personal life, offerings currently open to the public, single anonymous sources), and can pull or correct any story.

Our rules

  • Every AI-written story is labeled and lists its sources. Open “How this story was made” under any story for details.
  • News, not investment advice. We never tell you to invest, buy or sell. Startup investing is high-risk: most young companies fail, shares are hard to sell, and many rounds are open only to accredited investors.
  • Amounts, rounds and investors are copied exactly from the sources. Valuations appear only when a source states them, and we say whether the company confirmed them.
  • Revenue, growth and user numbers a company reports about itself are labeled as the company’s own.
  • Every Top 10 names whose ranking it is and what it measures. We don’t make up our own “best” lists.
  • Small-business programs are described as their sources describe them; always confirm terms, eligibility and deadlines on the program’s official page.
  • Shutdowns and layoffs are reported factually and without mockery. Fraud and lawsuit allegations are reported as allegations, with the other side’s response.
  • Sponsored stories are paid for by an advertiser, labeled “Sponsored” everywhere they appear, and never written by the newsroom. Ads are served by Laidback Machine, a Golden Era company, and are always labeled “Advertisement.” Advertisers and investors never influence coverage.
  • Our stories are written and checked by AI models — by default Anthropic’s Claude, with OpenAI, Google and xAI models available to our editors. When those companies raise money or make deals, they’re covered by the same rules as everyone else.
  • Answers in “Ask the newsroom” come from AI, are labeled “CashIn Startup AI”, and are limited to what the story and its sources say.
